Relaxing hike to discover the first snow and panoramic views
Join me for a relaxing hike through a magical forest showing off fall colors, across a creek, and up a mountain to catch the first snow in the mountains!
Then chill in front of open views of freshly snow-covered peaks.
Mostly sunny, no precipitations.
Had some fantastic weather on the trip. Left the extra layers in the pack most of the time; it even got warm enough to ditch the fleece occasionally. In the forest's shady spots, though, the fleece and long johns came in handy.
Surprisingly, the lightweight hiking shoes held up well in the snow – great grip, didn't need those snow spikes, and my feet stayed toasty (glad I skipped the boots, despite the initial hesitation). Just a note to self: warmer socks for lower temps next time, I was at the limit.
The stove behaved like a champ around freezing at this altitude, boiling water fast as usual.
Trekking poles were a must, especially on the snowy descent.
And, no regrets about bringing the chair – sometimes a little comfort goes a long way!
